Fo Guang Shan Hsi Fang Temple

On January 11, in preparation for the Lunar New Year, Hsi Fang Temple held a “Community Work and Affinity Day.” Thirty plus volunteers and young adults worked together in teams to clean the Main Shrine, dining hall, common area, community room, and high window sills, restoring the temple to a state of cleanliness and solemnity.
Through mindful action, participants practiced cultivation in movement, embodying the Buddha’s teaching of “sweeping the ground and sweeping the mind,” cleansing inner afflictions while cleaning the outer environment. After two hours of dedicated effort, Abbess Yishan praised everyone’s sincere dedication, and all experienced a sense of purity and joy.
Following the successful completion of the cleaning, Hsi Fang Temple prepared compassionate steamed buns to share the great compassion of Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Venerable Miaozang, the Superintendent, shared the story of the Founding Master’s compassionate “steamed buns” dated back to 2016 till present days. Venerable Master continued to care for the community’s well-being even after illness. Today, Fo Guang Shan global temples continue to express gratitude on behalf of Venerable Master to all for being part of the temple.
