On November 13, 2025, Most Venerable Hsin Bau, Abbot of Fo Guang Shan, visited the Philippines Guang Ming Chan Monastery and Guang Ming College Affiliated Primary and Secondary School in Cavite, accompanied by Venerable Yung Guang, Head of Fo Guang Shan Philippines; Venerable Miao Jing, Abbess of Mabuhay Temple; and Venerable Jue Lin, the monastery supervisor. The campus, formerly a Korean Zen Temple and Lumbini Elementary School, has since become Fo Guang Shan’s newest Philippine branch, located about an hour’s drive from Mabuhay Temple in Manila.

Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan, carried a great compassionate vow to benefit the Philippines by establishing temples in Manila, Cebu, Dagupan, and Iloilo; founding Guang Ming University in Tagaytay; and establishing the Cebu College of Arts under the university at Chu Un Temple. Now, with the establishment of Guang Ming Chanyuan and the university’s affiliated school in Cavite, Fo Guang Shan continues to make significant contributions to Philippine society.

Upon arriving at the Chan Monastery, Most Venerable Hsin Bau was delighted by the lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. He praised the environment, saying, “To have such a tranquil and beautiful place amidst a busy metropolitan area is truly rare. It is a wonderful space for cultivation and for calming the body and mind.”

He then met warmly with the monastics and staff of Guang Ming Chan Monastery, inquiring about their daily life and practice. He encouraged everyone to take meditation as the foundation and to develop the temple into a place that inspires hearts, brings joy, and provides stability to society. “A good place naturally brings joy to the heart and encourages the growth of goodness and beauty,” he reminded them.

Most Venerable Hsin Bau and the delegation also visited the Guang Ming College Affiliated Primary and Secondary School, where they interacted and took photos with kindergarten students. The joyful and heartwarming atmosphere marked a perfect conclusion to the visit.
